The Challenge

The Laboratory of Systems Pharmacology (LSP) at Harvard uses a team science approach to advance the fundamental science and technology needed to develop new medicines and personalized patient care. As a research and education program that prepares Harvard students and fellows for leadership roles in academic research, industry, and government service, the LSP hosts a number of seminars each year showcasing visiting scholars, faculty, post-docs, and research candidates.

The Approach

Christina brought her understanding of design principles and techniques to improve the visual communication of science through the incorporation of graphic design. She used her expertise in layouts, grids, color theory, and typography to create designs for both digital and print applications. She also built and scheduled communications across various internal channels to drive attendance; and coordinated all matters of hospitality, including hotel stays for visiting scholars, celebratory dinners, and more to ensure a smooth and successful event.

The Results

By incorporating visually appealing elements, vibrant colors, and clear, informative visuals, attendees were not only drawn to the seminars but also found the advertised content more engaging and memorable. The strategic use of well-designed materials helped create an activated atmosphere, ultimately leading to increased satisfaction among participants and speakers, led to a consistently high turnout for the seminars.
